Become a Program Director in your hospital
For most physicians, their professional career culminates in the management of their own private practice. Still fewer physicians will have the opportunity to lead a group, and most who do, spend a lifetime getting to that point. Apogee Program Directors, through the strength of their character and leadership abilities, have earned the opportunity to run their own Hospitalist programs. Many Apogee physicians have become Program Directors within a year of joining our group through hard work and commitment.
As an Apogee Program Director (PD) you are responsible for the Hospitalist program at your location. Program Directors not only assist with leadership tasks such as creating the schedule and maintaining strong relationships with hospital administration, Primary Care Physicians and specialty physicians but also participate in a full clinical schedule, caring for and treating patients. The group's guiding philosophy is "What's best for the patient is best for the practice." The Program Director's role is to ensure that every Apogee physician and nurse practitioner in their program has the support to provide the very best care to every patient, every day, every time!
Program Directors are held accountable for their Apogee team's success and failures. To assist in preparing for this leadership role, PDs must attend and complete the Program Director Academy Strategies & Expectations class headed by Dr. Michael O'Connor, Chief of Clinical Operations. Additionally, Apogee invests the time and resources necessary to hold a quarterly Program Directors Summit. Through these meetings Apogee provides ongoing leadership development to include training, education and sharing of best practices and support.
